WiseME Meeting in Odense – July 2025

In June 2025, Odense hosted the final WiseME meeting. Over two days, the team came together to review results, share feedback, and prepare the project’s final resources for students and educators across Europe.

WiseME is an initiative led by experienced professionals aiming to build safer, more informed school environments through smart digital tools and educational resources. In today’s online world, misinformation spreads fast and students are often the most exposed. Without strong digital literacy skills, false content can distort perspectives, impact well-being, and challenge trust in facts. WiseME supports schools by offering practical resources, digital tools, and interactive content to help students recognize fake news, verify sources, and develop critical thinking and responsible tech habits.

During the meeting, we:

  • Reviewed the pilot results of our mentoring model
  • Shared insights and feedback from students and mentors across countries
  • Finalized the WiseME mentorship toolkit
  • Planned the project’s closing conference and broader dissemination

The WiseME project “The right use of social media to face disinformation and fake news” has produced several powerful outcomes:

  • WiseME Training: A training syllabus and manual for secondary school teachers to help detect, verify, and manage disinformation in the classroom. (Click HERE for access)
  • WiseME Teacher’s Manual and Educational Platform: A dynamic learning environment packed with engaging modules tailored to both teachers and students. (Click HERE for access)
  • WiseBuddy: A supportive digital assistant that guides users through the platform and resources. (Click Here for access)

Specifically, the online course spans seven modules focused on key topics like disinformation, social media use, emotional reactions to fake news, ethical sharing, and hands-on critical evaluation activities. Module 7 even includes practice-based scenarios teachers can implement directly in the classroom from “Disinformation Bingo” to “Fact-Checking a Viral Claim.”

Meeting in Odense was not only productive but a vivid reminder of why WiseME matters. Combining focused discussions, collaboration, and a bit of Danish hygge, it captured the spirit of partnership and purpose at the heart of this project.

Stay tuned, the final outcomes and resources are coming soon!
